  • Book a full day for your whole list

  • Pre-sale and post-inspection lists

What a punch-list day is

Most homes collect a list of small jobs: a door that won't latch, a hole in the drywall, a loose railing, a light fixture you never swapped, shelves still in their box, caulk pulling away in the bathroom. Each job is too small to hire a separate trade for, but together they add up. A punch-list day handles them all at once.

You book a day and send me your list ahead of time, with photos if you can. I plan the order, bring the tools and the materials I can get in advance, and work through the list. Because everything happens in one visit, you don't pay for trip after trip and you don't have to stay home on five different days.

What fits on a punch list

If it's a repair, adjustment or install that can be done in a few hours or less, it usually belongs on the list. Common items I handle on punch-list days:

Walls and ceilings: drywall and plaster patches, nail pops, settlement cracks, caulking, and paint touch-ups. Doors and windows: sticking or sagging doors, latches, strikes, locks, door stops, weatherstripping and storm doors. Fixtures: light fixtures, ceiling fans, bath fans, switches and outlets, faucets and toilet repairs. Carpentry: loose railings, trim and baseboard, stair treads, shelving and closet systems. Mounting and assembly: TVs, mirrors, art, curtain rods, blinds and furniture.

If something on the list turns out to be a bigger job, such as a leak behind a wall or a section of drywall that needs replacing, I'll tell you what I found and what it would take, and we can plan it as its own project. See all services.

Who books punch-list days

Homeowners who have a year's worth of small repairs and want them done in one go. New buyers moving into an older row home who want everything sorted before or right after move-in. Landlords turning over a unit between tenants. Sellers and realtors clearing the list before listing or after the buyer's inspection (see pre-listing & post-inspection repairs). Owners of new construction with a builder punch list that never got finished, like nail pops, sticking doors and missing trim.

How to get the most out of your day

Write the list in order of priority, so the must-do items come first. Take a photo of each item and note the room. Tell me about anything that needs a specific part or finish, like a light fixture you've already bought, a paint color or a particular lockset, so I can have it ready. Clear the work areas if you can. The more I know ahead of time, the more I get done in the day.

Pricing depends on the length of the day and what's on your list, so call for pricing at (215) 391-6380 or send your list and I'll tell you what fits and what it costs before we book.

After the day

At the end of the day we walk through the list together so you can see what's done. If something needs a follow-up, like a second coat of paint or a part that had to be ordered, I'll tell you and we can schedule it.

Why book your punch list with me

I'm Scott, the owner. I opened Fishtown Home Solutions & Handyman in 2015, I have more than 10 years of experience, I'm insured, and I do all of the work myself. The person you talk to on the phone is the person who shows up and does every item on the list. I know older Philadelphia homes: plaster walls, out-of-square door frames, narrow stairs and party walls. I'm used to adjusting small jobs for them. I'm open 7 days a week, 6 AM to 10 PM, so a punch-list day can be a weekday, an evening or a weekend. See photos of recent work.

FAQ

How much does a punch-list day cost?

Pricing depends on the length of the day and what's on your list. Call (215) 391-6380 or send your list and I'll give you a price before we book.

What if I don't finish the list in a day?

I'll work in priority order, so the most important items get done first. Anything left can go on a second day or be scheduled as a separate visit.

Do I need to buy the materials?

For standard repair materials, no. I can bring them. If you want a specific fixture, lock or finish, buying it yourself ahead of time or telling me exactly what you want works best.

Do you do punch-list days on weekends?

Yes. I'm open 7 days a week, 6 AM to 10 PM, including evenings and weekends.
